Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) focuses on increasing website lead and sale rates while reducing your visitor "bounce rate".
It is the best indicator of your ability to persuade visitors to perform a desired action such as buy, enquire, proceed to another step etc. Simply put, it is a percentage of visitors who complete a specific action on your website.
What is the process?
The CRO process is cyclical and focusses on continuous improvement.
- Research and analysis: Review targeting, user experience, on-page optimisation, trust factors etc
- Develop a strategy: Use the research findings to present a solution
- Implementation: Putting the strategy into action
- Measurement: The strategy implemented using Analytics and Key Performance Indicators
- Review: Quantify and qualify improvement in CRO. (How can we improve even further? Rinse and repeat.)
What does a Conversion Rate look like?
Here is a basic example:
Lets assume you had 50,000 visitors to your site in a month.
In that month you received 1,000 orders
Your conversion rate is 1000/50000 = 0.02 x 100 = 2%
